The Tomato Patch by Andrew Henwood in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada

What says summertime more than tomatoes in a garden?

I love how Andrew Henwood captures depth in this piece by properly using foreground, subject, and background elements to give us a sense that this place is real — and I’m sure it is a very real place. I also think the colors are perfect.

I also enjoyed this bit from Henwood’s Flickr bio: “I have been retired now for over a decade, which is a wonderful blessing. It has allowed me to become myself. I am now an artist; a maker of toys, furniture and picture frames; a gardener. Chiefly, I think, an artist.”

Henwood’s piece is a great way to end the summertime2015 series this week. This week I was able to feature fishing, swimming, sailing, hiking, and now gardening.
