Panoramic by Gustavo Revelles in Madrid, Spain.
Revelles left behind a very large body of work. Born in Spain 1938 he took to art very early on and worked with some of the best artists of the time in Madrid. He passed away just ten years ago in Puerto Rico leaving behind some really great art.
I chose the above piece because it seems to be a favorite of Revelles in some way. This small town, perhaps in Puerto Rico, seems to be the subject of a fair number of the pieces in his collection. I appreciate when an artist paints the same thing over and over and over again like Georgia O’Keeffe painting the same door over and over and over. It forces them to look at the same thing differently each time. You can paint this same scene in different seasons, at different times of day, and even from a slightly different vantage point.
Thanks to his Son for submitting his father’s work to the gallery.
