From time-to-time I find a watercolorist that makes me wonder how, after curating The Watercolor Gallery for a few years, have I not seen their work before. This morning, over coffee, I found Tanabe’s collection and was completely blown away. I hope to one day interview Tanabe for my interview series.
Tanabe has an amazing ability to capture light and shadow. I urge you to take a look through her entire collection and pay special attention to her indoor pieces such as the one I featured here. Notice the lighting on the man’s face, the wine glass and the floor.
