I’m sometimes surprised when I discover the depth of talent many artists have. Rob Carey surprised me today when I found out that, in addition to being an amazing urban sketcher, he’s also one of the best portrait artists I’ve ever featured on the gallery.
There are so many great things about the above portrait though the subject’s expression is the main reason I’m featuring it. I’ll be honest, I have the hardest time capturing the expression of any subject – let alone capturing a likeness. The lighting/shading of this piece is also some of the best I’ve ever seen.
Carey’s work seems effortless. I love when I find this stuff.
