Sidewalk by Hisham Salmin in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
I recently tried my hand at a rather complex watercolor painting that combined a few techniques and far too many colors for me to handle. I failed miserably. Salmin seemingly tried the same sort of project here – with Sidewalk – only he didn’t fail at all. He won. Bigtime.
The perspectives are perfect. Where the details are and where they aren’t – strike me as being what makes this painting shine for me. The first thing you focus on when seeing this image is the boy. But, that certainly isn’t the object nearest you. It is simply in the middle. Surrounded by nothing. The edges blur in detail while they become more exact as they near the boy. The kid’s jeans are superb.
I could go on and on but I’ll leave you all to figure out what you like best from this painting too.
