Going to konark by Prabal Mallick in Bangalore, India.
Mallick uses several watercolor techniques in this fantastic piece. Dry brush, wet on wet (I think) and other techniques are used for the road, trees, and sky respectively.
I enjoy his perspective on many of his pieces. It was a toss up between this piece that you see here at his Soldier’s Prayer piece, which has one of the more unique perspectives of any watercolor I’ve seen, as to what I’d feature of his work. I chose this piece because of the deceivingly simple yet striking detail that he managed to capture on the building.
Mallick, like me, is learning art on his own. His blog is a great resource into peering into his technique and his journey in learning to paint. I’ve also added him on our artists list on Twitter.
