That is how much I adore these fish. I hope she posts many, many more of her paintings here on Tumblr – and perhaps if we send a massive amount of Tumblr people over to her blog she will. She’s on Facebook but I haven’t been able to find much more of her work – so if anyone (or you, Maya) can send me more of her stuff please send me an email (you can find my email address on the About page).

I don’t know what her method was for creating these little fishes but I can guess. It seems as though she slowly layered on the watercolors until she got what she wanted. Then, she took a few drops of her darkest color and used a straw to ‘blow out’ the fins. I think it worked masterfully.
