Fishing by Professor Yin Cheong CHENG in Hong Kong.

Today we go from something very precise to this amazing work by Professor Yin Cheong CHENG that, while it doesn’t appear very precise – I think that it is.

CHENGS body of work, which you can find in his book called My Watercolor Paintings, range from the 1970s to today and they are all, in their own way, just exquisite. I feel like I should be listening to Kyrie and Gloria of the Mass in B Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach while quaffing a 2001 Beringer’s Private Reserve Cabernet when I’m looking through his work.

That aside what I enjoy about this particular piece is the layers. Purple, blank, blue, blank, blue, blank, purple. The fisherman in 4 strokes the city in, what, 20? Just goes to show you… you don’t need a lot of paint to do a lot with your painting.
